Forest Tongue
Forest Tongue. Forest Tongue is the exile's treaty with the wild. Birds, wolves, and wild dogs will not attack them — not out of tameness, but out of an old recognition, as if the exile carries a scent that marks them as belonging to the green places. More usefully, the exile may give a single short message to any such creature, naming a place, and the creature will carry it. The message arrives as a feeling, an image, a pull in a certain direction — never as words. The exile has sent warnings to allies three days' ride away, summoned help to a pinned-down camp, and once called a wolf pack down onto the flank of a pursuing cavalry. The forest does not love the exile. It simply remembers them, and answers when they speak.
