Logistics of Empire
Logistics of Empire. Logistics of Empire is the warlord's truest weapon, and the one the bards never sing of. Any army under the warlord's direct command moves twice as fast as it should, eats half as much as it ought, and does not desert. Supply lines that would strangle another general simply hold. Grain reaches the front. Boots reach the soldiers. The math of feeding a province through a winter, which has broken better men than the warlord, resolves itself in their presence as if the ledger had decided to cooperate. This is not mercy. It is efficiency, and the warlord wields it like a blade. An army that does not starve does not need to forage, and an army that does not forage does not burn the villages it passes through. The conquered remember this, even if the bards do not.
